MicroComputer Specialist Open Competitive Exam Announcement

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must meet the following requirements on or before the date of the written test;
Either:

(A) Graduation from a New York State registered two-year college university with an Associate Degree in Computer Science or a closely related field; OR
(B) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two years of full-time paid experience in personal computer system analysis and/or adapting software for users.

RESIDENCY: Candidates must have been legal residents of Warren, Washington, Saratoga, Hamilton, Essex, Rensselaer, Schenectady or Albany County for at least one month immediately preceding the date of the written test. School Districts may give preference in appointment to their own residents and may require residency within the jurisdiction during the term of the appointment.

VACANCIES: This examination is being held to establish an eligible list to be used as vacancies may exist or occur in all school districts under the jurisdiction of the Washington County Department of Civil Service including Washington, Saratoga, Warren, Hamilton, and Essex County Board of Cooperative Educational Services (WSWHE BOCES), where the position exists.

DUTIES: This is a technical position focused on adapting microcomputers to department and user needs. Working with various departments as needed, the incumbent works from problem definition to implementation and support for the system designed. The work includes the application of both hardware and software to meet the specific needs of the department. Work is performed under general supervision with wide leeway allowed for planning and carrying out the details of the work. Supervision over the work of others is not a function of this position. Does related work as required.
