$1,494 - Per SABEA Faculty Contract
(Any Advisor position can be shared between two staff members. The stipend is then split evenly with both staff.)

Qualifications: 

REQUIREMENTS:
As per Faculty Unit Negotiated Agreement ; Article 10.8

Successful candidate must be actively employed during the period of appointment from September 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024.

Log of student activities must be submitted and authorized for payment and stipend.
 
Responsibilities:

1 position - SAEC

Student Council Advisor: 
Under the direction of the Head Advisor, the Student Council Advisor will organize a governing body of students, which will provide activities supportive of school improvement.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Organize students according to classes into a leadership network.
  • Meet monthly with student Council members to formulate and carry out school-wide activities.
  • Coordinate Local Skills Olympics Awards Ceremony.
  • Plan for and implement Community Service Activities.
  • Train and prepare students to do ushering at graduation exercises in June.
  • Responsible for maintaining and overseeing the extracurricular accounts associated with Student Council Youth Activities.
  • Establish, maintain and revise a written Constitution and/or Statement of Purpose.
  • Develop, maintain and revise a process for the election of officers on a yearly basis.
  • Elect officers on a yearly basis.
 
AUTHORITY
  • Provides leadership for Student Body governance.

POSITION FUNCTION:
  • Under the supervision of the Principal for Special Programs, the Junior/Senior Class Advisor will serve as the primary advisor for the Junior and Senior classes at the Southern Adirondack Education Center and the Myers Education Center.  The main focus will be to help organize and prepare for senior year activities and graduation and award ceremonies.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Meet with juniors to begin plans for senior year trips and activities consistent with instructional program curriculum and occupational goals.
  • Work with juniors to gather information about trip destinations and plan the fundraising that may be necessary.
  • Coordinate with seniors and provide leadership for the senior trip activities: 
        • arrange transportation
        • finalize itinerary
        • maintain budget
        • seek Board of Education approval
  • Communicate senior trip plans regularly with students, parents, and administration, as they develop.
  • Act as the contact person to various hotels and resources, as needed.
  • Coordinate and oversee the senior graduation/awards ceremony.
  • Maintain and oversee the extracurricular account.
  • Establish, maintain and revise the constitution and/or statement of purpose.

  • Organize junior/senior class members, develop and implement procedures to meet the responsibilities described above.
