Qualifications: 
 
Must be NYS certified or certifiable in: 
  • Business & Marketing or 
  • Business & Distributive Education 
  • Business Management & Administration (CTE Certification***) 
 
The successful candidate will have experience and skills:
  • Demonstrating an entrepreneurship background.
  • Working in a business environment.
  • Understands the nature of small business start-ups.
  • Planning lessons and projects based on a given business curriculum. 
  • Managing a Project-Based Learning Environment. 
  • Ability to work with the business and industry community 
  • Ability to work with business associations connected to the business world. 
  • Ability to teach in an interdisciplinary approach to show students how to connect core business skills, knowledge, and ideas in a way that allows students to see connections n how to business concepts are related. 
  • A vision of entrepreneurship possibilities that stem from traditional business coursework. 
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite: with a focus on Access and Excel. 
 
***For the CTE Certification path, the successful candidate will need to provide letters of occupational experience to become certified in NYS. BOCES will guide the candidate through the process of becoming certified, but all fees are the responsibility of the candidate. 

Responsibilities:
 
The Business & Entrepreneur Instructor is expected to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in their assigned learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Work is performed under the supervision of the principal or other designated supervisor.

For this specific position the successful candidate will have knowledge in the following areas:
  • Some familiarity with business coursework.
  • Understands core business practices.
  • Knowledge of higher education in order to connect post-secondary business coursework with secondary curriculum.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the development and implementation of a business plan.
  • Foundational knowledge of Business Administration, Management, Finance, and Marketing.
  • Knowledge of business efficiency models such as Six Sigma.
  • Knowledge of business acumen and professional skills.
