Day 1: July 30, 2012
Description: Participants will receive a brief overview of the Academy. Most of the day will be spent learning about the NYS Teaching Standards, APPR protocols, and Understanding by Design (UbD) Unit Development. Participants will be provided time to begin working on their UbD unit.

Day 2: July 31, 2012
Description: Participants will explore the importance of planning and preparation through the close examination of NYS Teaching Standards 1 and 2, as well as Danielson's Domain 1. Participants will also explore the Common Core Learning Standards and Instructional Shifts, relating this to the APPR process and the work of writing Student Learning Objectives. Participants will be provided time to work on Stage 1 of their UbD Unit.

Day 3: August 1, 2012
Description: The focus of this session will be on the use of evidence. Participants will build Stage 2 of their UbD unit after learning about assessment of student learning through NYS Teaching Standard 5 and Danielson's Domain 3. additionally, participants will explore effective teaching practices and evidence-based observations through work with NYS Teaching Standards 3 and 4, as well as Danielson's Domains 2 and 3.

Day 4: August 2, 2012
Description: Participants will take what they have learned from the previous days and reflect on their own professional growth and responsibilities through exploration of NYS Teaching Standards 6 and 7, as well as Danielson's Domain 4. Participants will be provided with time to work on State 3 of their UbD unit. The Academy will close with activities including peer review, presentation of knowledge products, and synthesis of learning/next steps.
