Negotiation Services are available to school districts to negotiate instructional and non-instructional contracts. We help districts manage the many intricacies of negotiations in order to alleviate as much stress as possible. Negotiating a contract involves:
This includes counseling the school board and chief school officer in responding to union demands with appropriate and economically significant management proposals and counter proposals.
Present contracts are reviewed, and interviews and analyses with districts identify the contract's strengths, weaknesses, and significant opportunities for improvement during subsequent collective bargaining.
3. Negotiation and Contract Pricing
Negotiation Services represents the school district at the bargaining table, within guidelines and – in the event of an impasse – will represent the school board in all steps of mediation and fact-finding process with PERB. This facet of the services also includes representation for the school board during any related work by action of the union. If requested, services may be provided for teacher, non-teacher, and administrative contracts. Negotiation Services will reduce the negotiated agreements to clear, concise, and implementable language.
4. Agreement, Implementation, and Administration
Negotiation Services will review the contract with administrative team members in order to communicate meaning, intent, and application of the agreement. We will also advise and assist chief school officers and boards in presenting and processing grievances during the life of the contract.
