Tuesday, October 20, 2015
There are lots of activities planned at WSWHE BOCES to observe National Bullying Prevention Center’s Unity Day on Wednesday, Oct. 21. Unity Day is a day for coming together against bullying.
Sanford Street and Washington Street Teaching and Learning Center will create a Unity Chain as a project and learn about kindness, inclusion and acceptance.
As Career and Technical Education students come into the Southern Adirondack Education Center (SAEC) in Hudson Falls, they will be asked to sign the Resolution of Respect. They will also hand out orange ribbons and have posters promoting their No Place for Hate school.
Students in the Special Education program at SAEC will observe Unity Day on Thursday, October 22 with a walk beginning at 10 a.m. They will be divided into three walking groups: TSPN and BEARS at 10:15 am, BEST and Life Skills at 10:30 a.m. and STEP at 11 a.m. After a brief speech each group will walk for about 15 minutes.
October is also anti-bullying month and students at the F. Donald Myers Education Center who are members of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) are working on a peace poster project and an ally pledge to help prevent bullying in school.
