Sending Lunch & Inspiration to Special Olympic Competitors
Tuesday, October 13, 2015
“Way to Go,” “Good Job,” “U R #1,” and “You can do anything!” were a few of the inspirational messages that students at the Southern Adirondack Education Center in Hudson Falls wrote on the 1,300 boxes that will hold lunches for competitors in the Special Olympics New York State Fall Games.
On Tuesday, October 13, culinary students and students in all of the school organizations created an assembly line where they could add positive phrases on the boxes. In the morning on Friday, October 16, the culinary students once again formed an assembly line to create ham and turkey sandwiches for the boxed lunches. In the afternoon, the students put the sandwiches, fruit cup, cookie and bottle of water together for the complete boxed lunch. Then, on Saturday, October 17 they’ll deliver the boxed lunches to competitors.
The Olympics were held Friday and Saturday, October 16 and 17 at various venues throughout the Glens Falls and Saratoga Springs area. For details on New York State Fall Games, click here.
