Tang's Suitcase Collection Outreach Program Visited TSPS
Tuesday, November 17, 2015
K-12 educators from the Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs brought the Tang’s Suitcase Collection Outreach program to the Therapeutic Support Program-South (TSPS) program at the F. Donald Myers Education Center.
Naomi Meyer, Caroline Blake and Megan Duffy from The Tang showed students two very different paintings of the Hudson River and discussed their similarities and differences. After the discussion, students made tissue-paper collage rivers out of a piece of blue card stock and a multitude of colors of tissue paper. The tissue paper represented different kinds of movement of water, foliage, flowers, maybe a fish or a duck, even a boat or a bridge. At the end of the activity students will place their collages end to end to make a long river across the room.
