Local Hair Salon Reps Visit Cosmetology Students
Monday, November 09, 2015
Representatives from Fantastic Sam’s, Regis Salon Corporation, and JC Penney Corporation recently visited cosmetology students at the F. Donald Myers Education Center in Saratoga Springs.
As part of the Work-Based Learning program, the visitations offer area employers the opportunity to meet and interact with students, share what they are looking for in employees, provide company information, employment outlook, and job opportunities. Plus, the visitations give students a chance to ask questions and think about possible internships. Student internships at local businesses and industry coordinated by the Work-Based Learning program supplement the classroom experience for Career and Technical Education students.
Cosmetology alumna Morgan Irvine represented SmartStyle, which is part of the Regis Corporation. She’s the manager of the Amsterdam shop. She told the cosmetology students that she started out at Fantastic Sam’s right after graduating before switching to Regis. Ms. Morgan talked about how to dress for the part when going for a job interview, what the interview process is like at her company, how at her company they have guests, not customers, and how they want to be pampered.
