Friday, April 07, 2017
SkillsUSA, FFA, Culinary Arts, Criminal Justice, Environmental Conservation & Forestry, Heavy Equipment, New Media, and Horticulture students all contributed and represented CTE at the 2017 BOCES Annual Dinner. Guests from our 31 component school districts enjoyed the evening and the opportunity to see their students in action.
Culinary Arts students prepared and served 100 meals. Criminal Justice Studies students provided security. Horticulture students created centerpieces for the tables. New Media students designed the program. SkillsUSA and FFA members discussed their organizations and acted as student ambassadors for the evening.
Instructors from the Heavy Equipment Maintenance & Operation and Environmental Conservation & Forestry programs made a presentation on the new equipment that was acquired for the 2016-17 school year. A video on the use of the equipment was shown.
Raymond Gordon was posthumously recognized for Outstanding Service to the WSWHE Region. His wife, Mary Gordon, accepted the award on his behalf.
Deputy District Superintendent Tim Place introduced the candidates running for the BOCES Board of Education. A budget workshop was held prior to the evening. For additional information on the budget and the BOE candidates, please see link to the BOCES Connections newsletter below.
