Electronic devices had no place on March 12, 2018 when over 470 students on 62 teams from 16 local school districts competed in the 2018 Battle of the Books. The event, which was coordinated by the Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton- Essex BOCES School Library System took place at Skidmore College.

Students in grades 3-6 prepared for the Battle of the Books for many months by reading five fiction and five non-fiction books. The teams, which consisted of 10 or fewer students each, tested themselves on every kind of detail imaginable, from the plot to the dedication.
