Board of Education Holds It's Annual Dinner
Friday, April 13, 2018
SkillsUSA, Culinary Arts, Criminal Justice, Welding, New Media, and Horticulture students all contributed and represented CTE at the 2018 WSWHE BOCES Annual Dinner. Guests from our 31 component school districts enjoyed the evening and the opportunity to see their students in action.
Culinary Arts students prepared and served 85 meals. Criminal Justice Studies students directed traffic. Horticulture students created centerpieces for the tables. New Media students designed the program and other handouts. SkillsUSA members discussed their organization and acted as student ambassadors for the evening.
Instructor Clay Corey made a presentation about the Welding program, along with alumnus Dan Flynn and current student Logan Mastropietro. A video about the program, and how it ties into a growing need for welders in our area, was shown. Representatives from the Fort Miller Group and Miller Mechanical Services also commented on the importance of the CTE Welding program for their industry.
Retired Regent James Dawson was recognized for his outstanding service to the WSWHE Region with the President's Award.
Deputy District Superintendent Tim Place introduced the candidates running for the BOCES Board of Education. A budget workshop was held prior to the evening. For additional information on the budget and the BOE candidates, please see link to the BOCES Connections newsletter below.
