WSWHE BOCES To Test Emergency Alert System on Thursday, November 8
Wednesday, November 07, 2018
WSWHE BOCES is utilizing the SchoolMessenger Notification System to inform families with children in WSWHE BOCES programs about school happenings and emergency information. A test of the system will take place on Thursday, November 8 at about 5pm. If you do not receive a phone call, please call your child’s WSWHE BOCES program principal’s office.
School Messenger is an automated notification system which allows WSWHE BOCES to contact parents in an efficient and timely manner with related news and emergency information. All parents/families are included in the system and will receive messages in various formats from their child’s WSWHE BOCES program principal throughout the year. The contact information is provided by the WSWHE BOCES student data management system, SchoolTool, and is updated by your child’s WSWHE BOCES program principal’s office.
A phone call is the primary method that WSWHE BOCES uses to notify parents/guardians in the event of an emergency. It also will send an email informing parents that a call was sent and allow them to listen to the message when convenient, if an active email address is available in the student's contact data.
Parents and guardians also have the option to receive information from WSWHE BOCES via text message. To receive text messages, parents have to text the word YES to the number 67587 from each wireless device they wish to receive texts on.
In addition, WSWHE BOCES programs utilize the system to place attendance calls in the event of a student being marked absent after school begins each morning.
In order to enhance our ability to accurately deliver that information, parents and guardians need to be sure their child's WSWHE BOCES program principal’s office has the most recent phone contact information and email address(es) in the student's record.
