Making the Transition
Friday, May 10, 2019
Approximately 40 Exceptional Learners Division students and staff from the F. Donald Myers Education Center attended the Post High School Programming and Services Fair on May 9. It was an opportunity to gather information, ask questions, and connect with potential programs that they may be interested in engaging with after graduation from high school. The informational fair which started a few years ago has grown substantially.
In the past, School To Work Program Teacher Debbie Bazarnick said she wanted to inform students of their options so they could self-advocate for what they want after graduation. “The number one thing parents ask at CSE meetings is - What is our next step? What is available to us?”
Organizers say the fair is one more way for students to have the chance to gather information, with their educational team's support and guidance, and plan for their post-school success.
Seventeen different programs had representatives on hand, including AIM Services, Saratoga Bridges, Living Resources, ACCES-VR, and many others, to tell students and staff about the supports and services that are available after high school. A full list with important contact information is included in the documents below.
