AASBA announces Community Service Award Winners
Monday, May 13, 2019
On behalf of Lin King, President of the Adirondack Area School Boards (AASBA), and James Dexter, Treasurer of the Adirondack Area School Boards, we would like to congratulate the students listed below who were nominated by their school districts as being an exceptional student to receive this year's AASBA Community Service Award.
For WSWHE BOCES, this year's recipient of the AASBA Community Service Award is Jesse DeVaux, a welding student at the Southern Adirondack Education Center and South Glens Falls Central School District.
Jesse exemplifies a student who has given a lot of his time to his community. He is a senior patrol leader in the Boy Scouts, where he volunteers regularly doing road side clean up and numerous yearly community service projects. He is CPR certified and Wilderness First Aid certified. He has been involved in the South High Marathon Dance in many capacities and competes in SkillsUSA.
In the fall, Jesse plans to attend Universal Technical Institute for Auto/Diesel Technology.
We would also like to thank the seven area companies that generously donated to the Association to allow the AASBA to continue with this long time, important tradition of recognizing one student from each participating school district. Their contributions allow the Association to publicize the name of each student and his/her school in The Chronicle newspaper.
