Julia Holbrook Honored For Community Service

Congratulations to all of the students who were honored for their execeptional community service at the Saratoga County School Boards Association Student Awards Dinner on May 13. Twelve students received a $150 scholarship. See the full listing below. Julia Holbrook, a senior rom Galway who is in the Criminal Justice Studies program at the F. Donald Myers Education Center was nominated on behalf of WSWHE BOCES.
Julia has demonstrated a strong commitment to her community and "Giving back" is something that is important to her. Julia is a 5th generation firefighter for Harmony Corners Fire Department. She regularly goes on calls, attends meetings and assists with the Chicken Barbecues. Julia is also an ambassador for Saratoga County Dairy Promotion (Alternate Dairy Princess). Through Julia's involvement in 4H and FFA she is a leader for several fundraisers.
In her Criminal Justice program, Julia earned an Academic Excellence Bar, volunteered to provide security for several events including Odyssey of the Mind and the Pumpkin Run, and is the New York State SkillsUSA Champion for for Extemporaneous Speech and will compete at the national level competition June 24-28 in Louisville, KY.
Julia plans to attend college next year to work toward her career goal of becoming an agent for the Drug Enforcement Administration.
