Congratulations to Southern Adirondack Education Center's Class of 2019
Monday, June 24, 2019
Two hundred seventy eight Career and Technical Education (CTE) students from the Class of 2019 received their completion certificates at the Southern Adirondack Education Center’s Completion and Award Ceremony on June 21 at the Cool Insuring Arena.
John Reiger, President of the WSWHE BOCES Board of Education, spoke about how bright the futures are for the graduating Career and Technical Education students. "These students can hit the ground running. They are qualified, certified and very proud of what they have done."
"These students are indeed ready to face their future," added Reiger.
Jarod Quackenbush of South Glens Falls, who is in the Early Childhood Education program, was the student speaker. In his address, Jarod likened the students’ journey to that of a well-known Steve Jobs quote, “The only way to do great work is to love the work that you do.” Jarod added, "This quote, I believe, best represents our SAEC students, and more broadly, CTE students across the world."
Jarod went on to say, “It is my firm belief that this center produces the best workers for tomorrow. Past, present, and future CTE students should be proud of the work we have done and continue to do.”
Jarod spoke about the need for Career and Technical Education in our society, how the students in his graduating class are helping close the skills gap, and that students are all talented in their own unique ways. He thanked his fellow students for their hard work and dedication.
In closing, Jarod said, “It is a beautiful thing when a career and a passion come together. My advice to you all is this; know your passion, follow it, dream it, live it, and always remember that no matter where you go or what path you choose, you will always be a student from our wonderful school, the Southern Adirondack Education Center”
District Superintendent James Dexter complimented the Class of 2019 on their perseverance and tenacity, and for taking a chance at something different. He thanked parents for their support. He concluded by saying, “thank you for sending us such great kids. Your son or daughter is employable now.”
