Students Enjoy a Good Old-Fashioned Barn Dance
Wednesday, March 23, 2016
The gym was transformed into a good old-fashioned Barn Dance for the students in Special Programs at the Southern Adirondack Education Center on Friday, March 18.
There were photo opportunities for students to don a cowboy hat and horseshoe glasses and stand in front of a big red barn with bales of hay.
Students had a great time dancing to country music being spun by a disc jockey, who just happens to be our Operations and Maintenance employee, Darron Moore. Fun games such as ladder ball and corn hole were available to students by using their Boys Town points. Snacks and drinks were also available. Teachers and staff surprised the students with a special flashmob performance to “Uptown Funk." (See videos below)
Assistant Principal Linda Beck-Fragale explained that often students in these programs don’t get to attend dances at their home schools, so they decided to have one on the SAEC campus. She said, “The students loved it! We saw a lot of smiles on their faces as well as requests and suggestions for the next one. It was an especially fun day for both staff and the students!"
