They Did It!
Wednesday, June 17, 2020
They did it! Cars, masks, elbow bumps and all! After two years in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs almost 500 high school seniors, from 31 school districts, received their CTE completion certificates over 2 days at the F. Donald Myers Education Center and Southern Adirondack Education Center on June 16 & 17. Although staff were not able to conduct the traditional in person ceremonies, they looked for alternative ways to recognize the hard work and dedication students have shown over the past two years and during remote learning.
Students had their moment to shine as they were presented their certificates by their instructors during drive-up ceremonies at each center. Their families were able to join the festivities and share in the feelings of pride and accomplishment.
A virtual completion ceremony video, for both centers, will premiere on June 18 at 7pm. Check this link. The ceremony will announce all of the completers names and feature well wishes from instructors.
CTE staff have cultivated an environment of learning that is unparalleled. They’ve helped students to uncover their unique strengths and interests, and they’ve helped to develop critical skills, self-confidence, and a standard of excellence that shows through CTE students’ performance at career competitions. Many CTE students will go on to college, technical schools or get right into the work force.
In the last few years, so much attention has been given to the skills gap in the United States. The Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex (WSWHE) BOCES Career and Technical Education (CTE) program is pleased to be doing its part in closing that gap by preparing the next generation of skilled workers and industry innovators. Now more than ever before, the skills of the Class of 2020 will be needed. WSWHE BOCES wishes the completers all the best in their future endeavors.
