Sanford Street Students Perform at Holiday Concert
Monday, December 21, 2015
Students at Sanford Street Teaching and Learning Center in Glens Falls presented their Holiday Concert on Friday, December 18.
With music teacher Deana Perlee directing, the students sang and acted out songs in the school’s gym/auditorium filled with family members. “The students have been rehearsing since Thanksgiving," explained Mrs. Perlee. “That’s only three rehearsals. So we chose Christmas classics.”
This year, the concert comprised of seven songs had a historical theme running through it. Prior to the group singing, one student would go to the microphone located in front of group to provide the song’s history to the crowd. Other songs featured soloists at the microphone.
In addition to being fun, performances offer students an opportunity to develop self-confidence. Mrs. Perlee added that concerts are a chance for students to work as a group and an opportunity for those with musical talent to showcase their abilities.
