Congratulations to Environmental Conservation and Forestry (ECF) students from WSWHE BOCES who competed in the New York State Future Farmers of America (FFA) Conservation Competitions held at SUNY Cobleskill held on May 16.
There were a total of 471 contestants from around the state competing in events, which required skills that are part of the ECF curriculum. Categories included:
The first place winners were: Brittany Smith from Lake George in the Women’s Pulp Toss; Jordan Clark from Lake George for Tree Scaling; and Ethan Frasier from North Warren for Compass and Pace.
In addition, the following students also placed in these categories:
Brittany Smith from Lake George placed second, Brennan VanSchaick of Burnt Hills placed fifth and Ryan Trainor from Fort Edward placed sixth place in the Tree Scaling competition.
Ryan Trainor from Fort Edward placed fourth in the Men's Pulp Toss.
Drew Caprod from Glens Falls placed fourth and Chris Hayes also from Glens Falls placed sixth in the Fish and Wildlife ID competition.
Joe Siska of Saratoga Springs placed seventh in Log Scaling.
Tom Keyes and Brennan VanSchaick of Burnt Hills placed seventh in Two-Person Peavey Log Roll.
Josh Fane of Schuylerville placed eighth in Tree Felling.
Todd Colomb from Hudson Falls came in eighth in the Bulldozer Trenching competition.
