Michael Spoerl was chosen as February’s Student of the Month at the Southern Adirondack Education Center.
A high school senior at Queensbury Union Free Central School, Michael is in his second year of Health Occupations.
His teachers commented that Michael is a very caring young man. He strives for excellence and has devoted much of his spare time volunteering for community service.
Michael has been active with SkillsUSA for two years and competed last year in the CPR/First Aid competition finishing first at locals and third at the state level.
National SkillsUSA is sponsoring Michael this year for the Presidential Gold Award for Community Service.
His commitment to the West Glens Falls Emergency Squad has helped him accumulate more than 2,800 hours of community service over a 3-½ year span.
Michael’s goals are to attend college to obtain his Registered Nurse and Paramedic degrees. He presently holds licenses in CPR/ First Aid with AED for the Professional Rescuer, as well as Lifeguard Certification.
He said his outlook on life is “you can never stop learning and you need to obtain the highest goals you can.”
