Students were recognized for their community service actions, outstanding academic abilities, awards for SKillsUSA, FFA, leadership skills and other accolades. It could not be in person this year but each student's name was read and recognized.
The WSWHE BOCES students have a tradition of volunteering in the community. Some of this work is done through service learning projects or work based experiences others do it as part of our student management system in order to obtain merit status. Students have made a difference by coordinating food drives, taking a stand against bullying, and collecting items for the local homeless shelters. As a result they gained a greater understanding of their roles in the community as well as the impact of their contributions towards those in need of service. The benefit to the students is the exposure to many different kinds of people, environments and situations.
Whether excelling in academic pursuits, participating in community service, displaying leadership among their classmates, or overcoming personal challenges; they inspire and provide hope for the future.
