How WSWHE BOCES Uses ParentSquare

Email  is one of the primary forms of communication through ParentSquare. Email is used to communicate school-level and district-wide news/events that are non-emergency in nature. Emergency alerts are sent via email in conjunction with other forms of communication.

The ParentSquare App is another primary form of communication through ParentSquare. The app is used for the same purposes as email.  Additional app features will be phased in throughout the school year such as absence reporting, two-way group communication, and more. The ParentSquare mobile app is available to download in iOS here, or download in Android here.

Text Messages are used for time-sensitive messages and in emergency situations.  In the ParentSquare App, families will be able to customize their settings to turn text messaging on or off.

Phone Calls are only used in emergency situations.

ParentSquare FAQ

Q: How do I Activate My ParentSquare Account?

A: We encourage all families to activate their ParentSquare account using your current contact information on file with the WSWHE BOCES at www.parentsquare.com/signin.

Q: Why doesn’t my ParentSquare invite link work?

A: WSWHE BOCES will send an email invitation to all families and staff on December 4.Invitation links only last for 24 hours, but you do not need to wait for a new invitation to activate your account! You can go to the ParentSquare login page here and activate your account with the same email address we have on file for you.

Q: Can I customize my ParentSquare notifications?

A: Yes, you can customize your notification settings by going to your homepage and clicking on your name in the top right corner and selecting “My Account” from the drop-down menu. On your account page, you can find your notification settings in the top right corner and click “Change This” to customize your notifications. If you are receiving too many notifications, try changing to the “Digest” setting where you will only receive one summary message in the evening.  If you choose the “Digest setting, messages are sent between 6 – 6:30 p.m. each evening as a summary instead of instantly.

View the ParentSquare getting started guide.

Q: Do I have to create a ParentSquare account?

A: No. But what a registered user can see and have access to and what a non-registered user can see and have access to will be different.

Q: Why won’t ParentSquare accept the password I chose?

A:  For security purposes, ParentSquare uses a password monitoring service to detect passwords.  If a user sees “We detected that your password was exposed in a breach at another company,”  you will need to choose a more secure password to be able to activate your account.  Try adding capital and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.

Q: Do I have to use ParentSquare on my phone?

A: No. You can use ParentSquare on both your phone and a regular computer. Go to the ParentSquare login page here to access your account on a computer. To access the ParentSquare App, visit the Apple App Store here or the Google Play App Store here.

Q: My email is correct in ParentSquare. Why am I not receiving emails?

A: Please check your spam to see if any ParentSquare messages ended up there, and mark them as “Not Spam.” Also, add [email protected] to your email contacts so your server recognizes our messages.

Q: Can another family member or babysitter receive information through ParentSquare?

ParentSquare contains personally identifiable information for each student, therefore, only primary contacts who are designated as allowed to receive mail may sign up for a ParentSquare account.
