Students received several awards. They were recognized for great attendance, reaching their reading and math goals, and expected growth goals. Students were also recognized for the most improved Boys Town Skills, honor roll and three annual awards were handed out. The three awards were Boys Town Medal of Honor, Most Improved Award and the Principal's Award.
The Washington Street TLC is a school for students with emotional and behavioral disabilities at the middle school level (grades 7 and 8).
Small class sizes at WSTLC are designed to provide students with the support needed to succeed academically, socially and behaviorally. Each class includes one teacher, one teaching assistant and six students. All students are identified with disabilities and their individualized education plans support their acquisition of grade level standards.
There are social workers, mental health professionals and other related service providers working collaboratively with teachers to provide students with intensive therapeutic and academic support. The Boys Town Specialized Classroom Management System is a highly effective, evidence based model that is implemented at WSTLC to teach students prosocial skills through a curriculum that reinforces positive behavior.
