Congressman Tonko said the Congressional Library makes the surplus of books available to members of congress. “We actively want to expand your library and opportunities. Your programs show the importance of reading and the empowerment it brings.” said Tonko.
Cody Netzband, director of the Capital Region / North Country Regional Adult Education Network, thanked the Congressman and said “this is a well curated grouping of books that will be very useful to the students.”
Three recent graduates of the HSE program were in attendance to meet and thank the Congressman. They all said that the support of the program, especially their teacher, was the driving force to help them succeed in the program and ultimately pass their GED exam to earn their High School Equivalency Diploma. Programs like HSE and Tri-County Literacy as well as gracious donations from partners like the Congressman give people the encouragement they need to believe in themselves.
