Culinary Arts Students Stir Up Excitement By Offering a Drive-Thru Option at the 25th Annual Chowderfest

Chowderfest, an annual tradition in Saratoga Springs, attracts food enthusiasts from near and far to indulge in a wide array of chowders crafted by local restaurants, vendors, and culinary talents. This year, the WSWHE BOCES Culinary Arts students will be among the participants, showcasing their skills and innovative recipes.

In a bid to ensure greater accessibility for all attendees, WSWHE BOCES is offering a drive-thru option at its stop on the festival route. This will allow visitors who might find it difficult to get downtown to conveniently enjoy the culinary offerings from the comfort of their vehicles while experiencing some exceptional choices.

Students have spent weeks honing their techniques and experimenting with flavors to present mouthwatering chowders that reflect both traditional recipes and contemporary twists. Buffalo Chicken Chowder, Cajun Shrimp and Bacon Chowder, and Sausage Potato Chowder are sure to be crowd pleasers.

"This is an incredible opportunity for our students to demonstrate their culinary abilities," said Chef Celeste David, Instructor at the WSWHE BOCES Culinary Arts program. "Participating in events like Chowderfest not only fosters creativity and teamwork but also provides valuable real-world experience that prepares our students for successful careers in the culinary industry."

Career and Technical Education Principal Mandy D’Andrea said, "with this event, we also wanted to foster inclusivity and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to savor the experience. By offering a drive-thru option at Chowderfest, WSWHE BOCES is not only showcasing the talents of our students but also playing a role in making it easier for all attendees to participate in this fun event. We're proud to provide an accessible way for individuals to enjoy the culinary delights our students have to offer."

The WSWHE BOCES Culinary Arts students invite all Chowderfest attendees to visit their drive-thru booth, Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, located at the F. Donald Myers Education Center, 15 Henning Road in Saratoga Springs. Samples of each chowder are $2 cash for 4 oz.
