The SLS Awards Committee, composed of school librarians, selected this year’s awardees based on nominations submitted by educators, librarians and administrators throughout the region.
Christine MacPherson, Director of Educational Technology at Hudson Falls Central School District, was named Administrator of the Year. The award recognizes a leader who supports and advances school library programs through collaboration, advocacy, and educational leadership.
“She truly believes that librarians are valuable members of the school community,” said Noelle Adamczyk, librarian at Hudson Falls Middle School, in her nomination. “That shows in how she makes connections and how she crusades for librarians to be involved.”
Ann Myers, librarian at Glens Falls Middle School, was honored as School Librarian of the Year. The award highlights excellence in programming, collaboration, leadership, and a commitment to literacy and lifelong learning.
“Ann’s service goes beyond tradition; she has been a pillar of support, innovation, and inspiration for both students and staff alike,” said Glens Falls Middle School Principal Carrie Mauro.
Kerrie Burch, School Library System Coordinator, expressed her joy for being able to recognize the hard work and dedication of the recipients.
“Ms. MacPherson and Ms. Myers exemplify the best of the best in the world of librarianship,” Burch said. “Our students, teachers, and administrators are fortunate to have such strong advocates who ensure that they have the resources and the skills they need to navigate this information-rich world in which we live.”
The WSWHE BOCES School Library System congratulates this year’s awardees and thanks all school librarians and administrators who champion the power of libraries to inspire, educate and connect school communities.
