Celebrating 303 Graduates in the Skilled Trades

Students from a wide variety of programs — including emergency medical technician (EMT), HVAC-R, early childhood education, construction trades, cosmetology, heavy equipment operation, culinary arts, criminal justice, auto technology and more — were celebrated for earning certifications and career-ready skills that will launch them into high-demand industries across the region and beyond.

Dr. Turina Parker, WSWHE BOCES District Superintendent, encouraged graduates to embrace the challenges that come with building a career.

“In your pursuit of your ever-evolving dreams, there will be times when things don't go as planned. And that's okay! Learning from failure is a fundamental part of innovation and progress. Every setback is a chance to refine your approach, to gain valuable insight, and to build resilience. See challenges not as roadblocks, but as detours that lead to unexpected discoveries about your own strength and capabilities,” she said.

Piper Rathbun of Whitehall, a graduate of the EMT program, had the honor of serving as this year’s student speaker. Addressing her fellow graduates, Rathbun shared an inspiring message about the impact they are poised to make: “In our futures, we will use our skills to change the world in many ways. We are all capable of changing someone’s life in one way or another. We are all capable of success.”

The ceremony opened with a stirring rendition of the National Anthem performed by Maya Wiskoski, a power sports technology student, accompanied by Dominique Cheese, a culinary arts student.

WSWHE BOCES partners with many local businesses and industries that provide critical support through internships, equipment donations, and mentorship opportunities — helping to ensure students graduate career-ready and in demand.

For family and friends unable to attend in person, the event was live streamed to celebrate the Class of 2025 from afar.
