Chef Lendell Eaddy Surprised with Paul Smith’s College Alumni Hall of Fame Induction Announcement

Representatives from Paul Smith’s College visited Chef Eaddy’s classroom and culinary lab to personally share the announcement in front of his students, creating a moment of celebration and reflection among those gathered. Co-Chairs of the Alumni Hall of Fame Committee,  Jim Tucker and Jim Voorhies, explained that when individuals are selected for this honor, they intentionally try to deliver the news in person rather than through a letter or phone call, creating meaningful moments that recognize not only achievements, but the relationships and experiences that shaped a person’s journey.

“I am overwhelmed,” said Eaddy. “Paul Smith’s is a special place. You have to experience it to understand. The staff, the scenery, the level of detail provided by instructors is amazing. They are all in. It’s all about the experience there. In many ways it is like WSWHE BOCES. That is what I am trying to do for my students here.”

Chef Eaddy’s induction recognizes both his professional accomplishments and his impact as an educator. Through hands-on learning experiences, mentorship, and industry expertise, he has helped students build the skills and confidence needed for future success. His work reflects a commitment to preparing students for careers in the culinary field while also supporting those pursuing higher education opportunities.

Alumni Hall of Fame Co-Chairs noted that educators like Chef Eaddy play an important role in passing on the knowledge and experiences they gained through both college and industry careers. His dedication to students and passion for his craft are making a lasting impact.

Chef Eaddy said that Jim Tucker recruited him when he was the age of his current students and he is forever grateful for having the opportunity to hone his skills at Paul Smith’s and now to pass on his knowledge to WSWHE BOCES students.

Chef Eaddy, who attended Paul Smith’s College, will be formally inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame during the college’s annual induction event this October.

The surprise announcement served as a reminder that while awards recognize accomplishments, they also honor the mentors, experiences, and connections that help shape a lifetime of work and service.
