ESL teacher Cathy Painter worked with the designated LOTE and ELA teachers to design and write procedures to meet the stringent NYS requirements for earning the seal. Most recently, she served as a judge for Lake George's student candidates for the Biliteracy Seal.

The NYS Seal of Biliteracy (NYSSB) recognizes high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in English and one or more world languages. This encourages students to pursue opportunities in higher education and the workplace where biliteracy skills are valued and "to affirm the value of diversity in a multilingual society."
