Renewing Your Annual Paperwork for 2023-2024 School Year


If you were an active substitute for the 2022-2023 school year and wish to be active again for 2023-2024, please complete the following steps:

  • Complete the online training modules (instructions are posted below)

You can access the online training through the following Questar III BOCES Health and Safety
Service website: 
Training modules found here include: Right to Know/Hazardous Communications, Bloodborne
Pathogens, School Safety, Mandated Reporter Obligations, Substitute Survival, Cyber Security
and Data Privacy, and Unlawful Discrimination and Sexual Harassment. These trainings must
be completed prior to substitute teaching. 
1. Log In – Use the email address associated with your substitute application.  
2. Password -  substitute  
3. Employees will see the training module when accessing the site. All training modules are located on the training homepage and can be accessed at any time by clicking the “Training Courses” menu bar or the Questar logo at the top of the screen. The site will remember your course progress should you need stop and continue at a later time. 
4. Review the training module and complete a quiz at the end of the course. A score of 100% is required for each quiz. You may retake the quiz if necessary. Once the course is completed, a Certificate of Completion will be generated. Please click the GREEN button, located in the green bar at the top of the training course screen, to view your certificate. 
5. Your certificates will be stored in your account. If needed, you may log in to access your certificates at any time. The sidebar to the right of the screen provides direct access to certificates for all of your completed courses. You do not need to print your certificates.
6. When you have completed all trainings, please notify the Substitute Teacher Registry so they can verify completion and proceed with the next steps for your application process.
