CTE Students and National Guard Team Up for MRE Challenge

Culinary Arts students and the National Guard teamed up for a cooking competition using Meals Ready to Eat (MRE) as their inspiration. The 2022 MRE Challenge was held on May 5, 2022 at the F. Donald Myers Education Center. The competition was in the style of “Chopped” and other timed cooking contests.

Students Declared New York State SkillsUSA Champions - Preparing Tomorrow’s Skilled Workforce Today

Skilled workers are in short supply, and college tuition is rising. However, the Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex BOCES Career and Technical Education (CTE) division is preparing tomorrow’s skilled workforce today, many receiving awards.

WSWHE BOCES CTE students and the Early College Career Academy (ECCA), a partnership with SUNY Adirondack, participated in the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Championships from April 27 to 29, 2022 in Syracuse, NY at the NYS Fairgrounds.

District Superintendent Dexter Honored By CASDA With NSDC Cooperative Leadership Award

James P. Dexter, District Superintendent of Schools for the WSWHE BOCES, was honored with the National School Development (NSDC) Cooperative Leadership Award on April 13th, at the CASDA Annual Awards Dinner held at Franklin Terrace in Troy, New York. This annual award is given to recognize outstanding leadership within NSDC member study councils or on their behalf, including exemplary efforts to establish cooperative relationships with other educational agencies or study councils in the course of creating educational programs for the nation’s schools.

On March 30, 2022, Employment Training for Adults (ETA), hosted a Women in Trades Expo at the WSWHE BOCES Conference Center in Wilton. The event successfully brought together local employers, industry partners, and women interested in learning about new pathways and opportunities.

More than 100 Career and Technical Education students from both the F. Donald Myers and Southern Adirondack Education Centers at WSWHE BOCES participated in dozens of competitions at the Regional SkillsUSA Competition on March 16, 2022.
