Operation Turkey 2022 Provides Baskets of Thanks

Career and Technical Education (CTE) students showed thanks this holiday season by helping their community. On November 22, Culinary Arts students from the F. Donald Myers Education Center and the Saratoga Wilton Kiwanis Club packed 120 holiday food baskets for local families in need in what they call “Operation Turkey”.

Bronze for the Win and More at the National FFA Convention

Four students from the Southern Adirondack Education Center brought home a team bronze award as well as individual awards from the 95th National FFA Convention & Expo which included competing in the National Forestry Career Development Event (CDE) in Indianapolis, IN from October 25-30, 2022.

Small Animal Science Program Having a Big Impact

The WSWHE BOCES has a new program this school year at the F. Donalds Myers Education Center in Saratoga Springs. The Small Animal Science program is a two-year program based on national industry standards, using the Cornell University veterinary curriculum. Area clinics reached out to the administration last year to see about starting the program, and the response from students has been overwhelmingly positive.

Hometown Thanksgiving Prep Underway

On November 2, 2022 the Culinary Arts and Hospitality and Human Services program students at the Southern Adirondack Education Center started preparations for Hometown Thanksgiving, an event that provides hundreds to thousands (over the years) of free Thanksgiving meals to the Glens Falls community and surrounding areas.

Manufacturing and STEAM Day

Up to 125 ninth- and 10th-grade students from across the region attended a Manufacturing and STEAM Day event on October 21, 2022.

Trucks & Treats Event Puts A Twist on Trick or Treating

Children love big trucks and candy. Students in the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Early Childhood Education program and SkillsUSA at WSWHE BOCES are putting a spin on Halloween. Your average trunk-or-treat event includes decking out cars in the holiday spirit. On October 29, from 2pm to 5pm, trucks from local businesses will roll down to the F. Donald Myers Education Center at 15 Henning Rd in Saratoga Springs, gather in the parking lot, and give out treats to the public. So dress up in your best Halloween costume and enjoy the afternoon. Additional food items will be available for purchase.
